TARANAKI CATCHMENT COMMUNITIES

A group of farmers and growers from around Taranaki, together with Venture Taranaki, initiated discussions early in 2020 about the challenges facing the rural sector and the possibility of establishing catchment communities around the region. This group came together as Taranaki Catchment Communities (TCC) with the aim to lead, engage and mobilise Taranaki’s rural sector to ensure a more environmental, economic and socially sustainable future.

TCC founding member Ross Dunlop:
Leading change in ÅŒhawe

Former South Taranaki Mayor and Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year Honours, Ross Dunlop has been restoring native bush, improving water quality, and creating habitat for wildlife on his ÅŒhawe farm for many years. His practical efforts are paying off, with a thriving environment and the return of rare native ducks and birds. In our latest video, Ross shares the changes he’s seen and the impact of conservation work on his farm. Watch now to hear his story.
